The room where the shelf lives
Feed Bloom Vault LLP operates from unit 01-04 at 247 East Coast Road — a ground-floor editorial floor we call the Katong floor, named for the corridor outside the door.
We are small on purpose. A large room would tempt us to fill space with noise.
How we began
Feed Bloom Vault started in late 2024 when three editors left a morning wire desk and rented an empty shophouse unit on East Coast Road. They built timber shelves along the east wall, labelled them in Fira Code, and agreed to publish only after midday when neighbours had time to read. The name came from a joke about "feeding" the shelf with copy and "vaulting" anything unverified to hold. CORAL SHELF refers to the coral paint on the shelf brackets — visible in every photograph we take of the room.
We registered as Feed Bloom Vault LLP in 2025. We are not affiliated with national broadcasters, government press rooms, or influencer agencies. Funding comes from written scope agreements with partners who accept our independence clause: editors choose headlines within agreed beats; partners do not preview copy before publish unless embargo hold applies.
Physical layout
The floor divides into four zones without walls. Intake tray and ground-floor lamp near the door. Caption house bench along the north wall. Hold shelf on the east wall — three tiers, three hold kinds. Cut room at the back with proof lamp and disconnected publish laptop. Right-rail navigation on this site mirrors the shelf tick codes pinned above each zone: B for broad beats, C for caption and corridor pages, D for legal shelf.
Visitors enter through a metal gate that sticks in humid weather — we file a street note when it sticks, not a complaint column. Inside, shoes optional, voices low after seventeen thirty. The room fits twelve people comfortably, eighteen during evening cut if contributors stand in the corridor.
Editorial standards
British English throughout. Datelines in Singapore time. Sources named unless safety requires restraint — and even then we explain why. Corrections publish on the same URL with a visible timestamp and summary of change. We do not delete erroneous paragraphs; we strike and annotate. Photographs pass caption house four-pass process. Video is rare; when we use it, captions and transcripts follow the same rules.
We refuse advertorial, sponsored rankings, and anonymous tip lines without return contact. We refuse to rush a beat because a partner telephoned. Scope is agreed in writing before work begins. Those standards are not marketing language — they are the conditions under which contributors stay employed.
Who works here
Twelve staff, six regular stringers, four beat interns rotating monthly. Roles include evening editor, beat editors for eight districts, caption leads, hold clerk, proof readers, and one operations manager who answers the telephone when editors cannot. No one carries the title "CEO" on the byline. External counsel advises on legal hold; they do not sit in the cut room.
Staff live mostly in the east — Marine Parade, Bedok, Tampines, Katong. That geography is intentional. Beat editors should know their bus stops without checking an app. When we hire, we ask candidates to walk a beat blind and file a street note. The note matters more than the CV.
Independence in practice
Independence means funders do not see drafts before publish except under written embargo hold. It means we disclose partner relationships in copy when readers would care. It means the hold shelf blocks stories when verification fails even if a partner prefers silence. It means this site has no comment threads, no reader polls, and no web forms — every enquiry passes through a human at The Mailbox.

Visiting the floor
Walk-ins welcome Tue–Sun 12:00–19:30 when a shelf editor is free. After nineteen thirty the cut room needs quiet — schedule through the mailbox for later visits. Bring identification if you are a source meeting a beat editor. We do not tour the hold shelf for curiosity; it contains active verification material.
