Write to the desk

The mailbox is not a web form. It is [email protected] — read by the section editor on duty during desk hours.

We deliberately omit contact forms from this site. Every message passes through a human who reads for scope, safety, and verification before it touches the CORAL SHELF. Automated submissions cannot answer follow-up questions about your beat, your sources, or your embargo requirements.

What to include in your email

Editorial tips and street observations: time, place, beat name if known, witnesses, and any document reference. Attach photographs only if you can grant desk use — we will confirm by reply.

Partnership and scope enquiries: organisation name, proposed beat, timeline, and whether embargo hold may apply. We respond with a written scope template — nothing begins without signatures.

Caption corrections: subject line CAPTION · [beat] · [frame number]. Quote the published caption and the correction with source.

Visit requests: preferred date, time band, and purpose. Walk-ins welcome before nineteen thirty when a shelf editor is free; later visits need confirmation.

Telephone calls are answered during desk hours only. If you reach voicemail, leave name, callback number, and beat — we return calls same desk day when possible. Overnight messages queue for the twelve hundred intake tray.
